Troy Bumpas Inn
Located in the Historic College Hill District adjacent to downtown, the Troy Bumpas Inn is one of twelve houses in the county that have survived since the 1840s. Extensively renovated in 2004, this enchanting bed and breakfast inn is filled with genuine antiques and replicas, creating a romantic, soothing ambience.
The house was built in 1847 and occupied by the Bumpas family until 1976. The Reverend Bumpas, inspired by a painting of the Parthenon, chose a Greek revival design and set the house on a stately knoll overlooking Greensboro Female College (now Greensboro College). Over the years the surrounding neighborhood developed into the now popular College Hill District. Today the Inn is listed on both the National Register of Historic Places and Guilford County Historic Register.
